Mars & Minerva Shooting Club

 

Concerns Raised:

– Limited time at the firing point, when shoots are oversubscribed.

– A need for more targets and markers at larger Club Shoots.

– Insufficient ammunition purchased in advance.

– The need for sufficient Range Conducting Officers and Range Safety Supervisors to maintain appropriate levels of safety and
supervision.

– Too much admin done at the Firing Point by RCOs and RSOs.
In order to address these valid concerns we have implemented the following system:

In advance of a Club Shoot:

– The deadline for booking in online will now be 3 days in advance of a Club Shoot.

- Members can NOT attend the Club Shoot without having booked in.

On arrival at a Club Shoot every member must:

– Sign in on the Section 21 Declaration form at the Bar

– Pay the Range Fee £20.00 and show their valid Competency Card (or Log Book if they are a Probationary Member).

– Competency Cards and Log Books must also be available for RCOs and RSOs to check at the Firing Point.

On leaving a Club Shoot every member must:

– Sign out on the Section 21 Declaration form at the Bar.

– Record the Shoot on their Log Sheet in the folders situated in the Foyer of the Clubhouse. (It is every member’s responsibility to record their attendance at Club shoots in this manner so that the Club Secretary can make accurate attendance returns to the Police.)
This system enables the Shooting Club to:

– Know how many members will be attending Club Shoots.

– Arrange appropriate numbers of RCOs and SOs.

– Get all information to RCOs and SOs in advance of the Shoot.

– Book and pay for extra targets, markers and ammunition.

– Have sufficient catering and administrative staff on site.
We hope that having listened to our members’ concerns that the new system will make the Club Shoots more equitable, safe, efficient and fun.

2. Book in for a shoot by email at least 3 days before hand

3. Present your Competency Card or Log Book on the day otherwise you will
not be allowed to shoot.
