Guest Day Saturday 24th May
Despite fairly awful weather to start with on the morning of Saturday 24th May barely any of the guests cried off and we say around forty shooters through the morning for a 300 yard Full-bore Shoot on Century Range.
Several attendees are now applying for membership and were full of praise for the excellent clubhouse member range team.
A big thank you to John Miller, Martin Osment, John Trigwell, Mike Thatcher, Chris Norris, Steve Farmer, Neil Macfarlane , Shane Hancock and Nick Lockhart for running today and to Robert Erskine our new Assistant Manager and Membership Secretary for providing very efficient assistance and support.
The afternoon Small-bore Shoot saw around ten attendees which was full capacity for this particular event and again a big thank you to Chris Mullins and Terry Baldwin for running this event.

Members Private Party – Tactical Pistol Shoot – Saturday 10th May
Phil Porter – Chief Instructor – Tactical Pistol ( Winans Range)
This new addition to our shooting programme and options within the club is an exciting fast moving Tactical Pistol shoot using live fire cover and movement. On this particular shoot it involved two persons working together as a team to move forward whilst relying on their partner to give covering fire whilst the other is forward of the other gun. Once they have moved forward to the LOE (limit of exploitation), they then cover and withdraw. The team learns to manage the rounds they have and when a reload is called for then the partner is still able to provide cover rather than having to reload at the same time. We have heard members say that due to this kind of shooting being of the Airsoft variety they are not interested but it has been very well received and Phil, Rex and Andy believe that many more of you and your younger children ( aged 10 upwards ) would enjoy it.
It is not something that will be on the programme often but we hope to include it on our Families Day on the last Sunday in August as one of our activity options and would love to see you coming along to enjoy it with your friends and families!
Isle of Man – Club Shooting Trip October 2013
Rod Leonard one of our shooting members who lives in the Isle of Man organised and hosted a fantastic weekend at his IOM Club ( Peveril) – big thanks again to Rod and the Peveril Rifle Club Team who laid on a very generous and extremely well
enjoyed weekend – which included not only fabulous shooting opportunities not available in the UK mainland but also included off road driving and fun nights out!
”The trip to the Isle of man arranged for club members was nothing short of marvellous!
Organizationally wise, it was brilliantly done; everything had been taken care of by Rod and the Peveril Rifle Club so all one had to do is book flights and confirm hotel booking requirements.
Once there the whole experience was just amazing. It was like being at the Artists’ Club in terms of being made to feel welcome and “part of the family” from get go but on an island where one is able to shoot handguns!!! Being one of only two girls on the trip not once we felt anything but exhilarated by the whole experience! it got even better when we fared better than some of the guys (of course!).
The shooting, the (evening long) visit meal “and just one drink” at the brewery and the local nightlife made this trip brilliant however, what made it memorable were the people involved in organizing it, seeing to the smooth running of all activities as well as the lovely bunch of people taking part.
This trip will forever stay with each one of us I think and will always be a very cherished memory as well as a great source of entertainment as many a humorous story can be told about the three days we spent there.
I never envisaged such a short trip could have such a positive impact on so many.Thank you to Rod Leonard and his family for being so welcoming and very attentive hosts, thank you to the Peveril Shooting Club for fantastic coaching which was so effortless! I believe I can safely say none of us ever felt more than just a bunch of people having great fun whilst handling a wide selection of firearms in complete safety, thank you to all those at the Artists involved in facilitating the trip and last but not least thanks to the Isle of Man as a whole for putting up with us and our “not so elegant” dance moves on the Saturday night.
All that’s left to do now is to organize more trips like this one”
